Meeting held at Pateros City Hall, and called to order by President, Judy Asmussen.
Sweet River Bakery provided lunch for a $7 donation.
Motion made, seconded and passed to approve minutes of last meeting as presented.
Chamber Treasurer, Joey Bruno, reported an ending balance of $4348.42. The Chamber has $150.00 in Membership Dues to date, which is $185.00 over last year. Motion made, seconded and passed to approve Treasurer Report.
All present introduced themselves to the guest speakers. Carol Stum introduced Co-Queens of Winthrop, Krissy Von Pressentin and Christina Evans, who discussed the events that will take place during Winthrop’s 49er Days, May 11 – 13. Chamber Vice-President, Rebecca Meadows, introduced Frankie Waller, Grand Lady of Winthrop 49er Days, who spoke about the history of Winthrop and 49er Days.
Guest, Teri Craven, talked about her new business opening up in the Pateros Mall. This will be a flower shop and opening is expected next week. Pateros Country Flowers will have cut flowers, dry and silk arrangements, and hanging baskets. Local artists will also be showcased in her shop.
Guest, Jay Weatherbee, Mayor of Chelan, attended today’s meeting to discuss plans for the old grocery store in Pateros, of which he is a managing partner of “blue collar investors”. He says he loves this community and looks forward to working together in the betterment of Pateros. He believes there are opportunities for Pateros to grow. They are in the process of cleaning up the building now and they will redevelope the market by splitting it into small retail spaces. He says he would love to attract a small grocer to move in there and they will keep the deli intact, just in case. The second phase will be to bring in a residential element, such as condominiums, in the south end.
Mayor’s Briefing Report –
Mayor Gail Howe reported that the Counsel Meeting was held on Monday. The Hydro Races people were there and Counsel approved them setting up camping in the park. They are trying to get local businesses more involved with the races. They will also be bringing in additional docks and will be loading the boats in the center of the park. Mayor Howe also reported that MetroQuest will have a seminar in Omak tomorrow. MetroQuest helps community meet sustainability goals, improved quality of life, and minimize infrastructure costs. In addition, Mayor Howe says that the City has totally finalized the sale of the property between the car wash and housing structure.
Annual Banquet –
Linda Marsh reports that everything is organized and ready. The only thing needed now is for people to purchase tickets.
Business Appreciation Day –
Joey Bruno reports she has sent emails to the PUD’s, the Sheriff, Brewster Police Department and Army Corp, but has not heard back from anyone. Rebecca Meadows requested Joey give them a call on Monday. During the event, the Fire and Ambulance will be on one end of the Mall and the Police at the other to encourage people seeing everything in between. There will be lots of goodies and open houses, KOZI will be broadcasting from 7:30 – noon, and hotdogs will be served in front of the library.
Pateros Brochure –
Chamber Secretary, Mary Pearson, passed around a newly designed brochure. With the exception of changing a few of the interior pictures, everyone present approved of the new design. The Chamber will need about 1,000 brochures printed and Mary Pearson will check on pricing.
Next meeting will be May 16, 2007.
