Pateros Chamber of Commerce Meeting Minutes
July 18, 2007

Meeting held at Pateros City Hall, and called to order by President, Judy Asmussen.

Rivers Restaurant provided lunch for a $7 donation.

Motion made, seconded and passed to approve minutes of last meeting as presented.

Chamber Treasurer, Joey Bruno, reported no change in the treasurer’s report from June. Ending balance stands at $4,348.42.

Mayor’s Briefing Report –

Mayor Gail Howe reported that the City is pursuing a grant for improvements between the Mall and the gravel pit, and also for an improved gravel parking and landscaped area next to the railroad tracks on Commercial Street. They will be presenting proposal to the Tri-County Economic Development Committee.

Upcoming Event: Apple Pie Jamboree –

Tracy Miller reports that everything is rolling along smoothly. She says they need staffing for booths. The Class of 2007 is heavily involved this year and the parade, 3-on-3 tournament, and pies are going great. Shirts and buttons for this year’s Jamboree are now on sale.

Upcoming Event: Pateros HydroClassic –

Julie Belisle-Porter reported via telephone that the HydroClassic plans are going extremely well, with a good number of people stepping up as sponsors. She reported that Kodi’s is their biggest sponsor thus far. There are 14 classes of boats scheduled to come and at least nine vendors are committed. Vendors will be mostly arts and crafts, “Hand-made and Home-made”, and some food booths. Hours will be 10 am until 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 25th and 26th, with a break half-way through the day for people to meet the racers, view the boats, and take photos. There will be a Fireman’s Boot Drive and a chainsaw exhibition on both days. The ambulance will be booked through Brewster Ambulance service. Volunteers are still needed for security and gates. There will be no admission fee for the HydroClassic, but wristbands will be required for people who want to enter the pits, which will be located in the center of the park just right of the restrooms. Programs will be handed out at the races and will list businesses who are sponsors. Julie reports they need approximately 60-75 gift bags, containing gift certificates, coupons, etc. from local businesses who wish to participate, to give the racers. Tim Hamilton from Tacoma Outboard will be in Pateros on Thursday to check everything out.

Pateros Postcards –

Fran of Smith and Western also reported via telephone and explained that they only do orders of 4,000+, and will not do the printing unless they are guaranteed 2,000 sold due to warehousing such large orders. She said they will set up an account for Pateros Chamber and bill them directly. Price will be $300.00. Judy Asmussen stated she will email all info and picture during the first part of next week. Printing and delivery should take approximately six weeks.

Pateros Brochure –

Chamber Secretary, Mary Pearson of Southern Essence Web Design, presented a final draft of the brochure. No further changes were requested, so she will put in the printing order. The insert need additional editing. Mary will be printing the inserts herself.

Next meeting will be August 15, 2007.
