Meeting held at Pateros City Hall, and called to order by President, Judy Asmussen.
Lake Pateros Café provided lunch for a $7 donation.
Rebecca Meadows moved to approve the minutes of the April 18, 2007 meeting; seconded by Joey Bruno. Motion carried unanimously.
Treasurer, Joey Bruno, reported a beginning balance of $4,348.42 and an ending balance of $4,006.28. Bills paid included an invoice for the Snoflyer from 2005. The Annual Banquet ended with a balance of $144.46. The city has received many requests for information and brochures from businesses are needed. A city brochure lists all business of Pateros and information about each business.
Guest, Debbie Griggs, of Sunny FM (KCSY) radio in Twisp reported their service has extended their coverage to include the Pateros area. Their radio station now covers Twisp, Winthrop, Omak, Okanogan, Brewster, Pateros, Lake Chelan, Wenatchee and Cashmere. The music is “greatest hits”.
Mayor’s Briefing Report –
Mayor Howe reported:
1. A collage of pictures from Business Appreciation & Safety Day was passed around.
2. The sale of city property to Matt Horey and Jerrod Riggan has closed. They are on a timeline of 18 months to do their project. Their contract with the city also includes the finishing of the Pateros Mall.
3. The Brewster parade was a success and it was noted that it would be nice to have some permanent banners for parades.
4. The city is investigating the possibility of putting banners on Hwy 97.
City Wide Garage Sale –
A recap of the event brought out that June may not be the correct time to hold this event. Dates were discussed for the event. Linda Marsh moved to hold the 2008 City Wide Garage Sale on the last weekend of August; seconded by Rebecca Meadows. Motion carried unanimously.
Business Appreciation Day –
There was a positive response from visitors to the event.
Apple Pie Jamboree –
Linda Marsh reported there will be a meeting on June 27, city hall, at 6:00 p.m. Also, the first peeling party will be held June 25, school, 6:00 p.m. Apple Pie Jamboree will be setting out donation cans to help pay for the $1,000 needed for fireworks. Joey Bruno stated there will be a 3 on 3 game this year.
Pateros Hydro Classic –
The event promoters have been asking local merchants to donate funds to off set the price of holding the event. In the past Tacoma Outboard has paid these expenses.
Pateros Brochure –
The draft Pateros Brochure was passed around for people to review. It was suggested that an insert be put in the brochure. The insert would have Chamber businesses listed on the front and events listed on the back. Brenda White moved to approve the expenditure of $380.51 for the purchase of 1,000 brochures; seconded by Gail Howe. Rebecca Meadows move to amend the motion to state that the expenditure should be raised to $500.00 so there would be sufficient funds for the inserts; seconded by Linda Marsh. Question was asked on the first motion. Motion carried. Question was asked on the second motion. Motion carried.
Guest, Brent Sillito, new owner of Lake Pateros Rentals gave a brief report on where his family is from and their intent on running the business. Equipment and prices will be the same with a focus on the recreation side of the rentals. Saturday, 12 – 3 p.m. they will be holding an open house at their business.
Pateros Postcard -
Photo’s were sent around so people could vote on their favorite picture to be put on the postcard for Pateros.
Miscellaneous -
It was suggested that the minutes of the Chamber meetings be posted on the web sites bulletin board. There has been very little action on the site. It was suggested that a reminder of the bulletin board be put in the next water bills and on the reader board.
Next meeting will be July 18, 2007.
