Meeting held at Pateros City Hall, and called to order by Chamber President, Jennifer Stennes.
Rivers Restaurant at the Pateros Super Stop provided lunch for an $8 donation.
Motion made by Judy Asmussen to approve minutes of last meeting as presented. Seconded by Linda Marsh. Motion passed.
Motion made by Brenda White to approve Treasurer’s Report as presented. Seconded by Cheryl Schweizer. Motion passed.
Mayor’s Briefing Report – City Clerk, Linda Marsh reported that Ron Roberson, Council Member, resigned and Brent Sillito was sworn in on Monday night. There are 2 vacancies on the Planning Commission. Anyone interested can write a letter to the City. The City sent out a survey regarding the future use of the old fire hall. The majority came back interested in seeing a museum. The City is looking for committee members to start looking into whether a museum is feasible. The new City website is up at www.cityofpateros.com.
Upcoming Event: City-Wide Yard Sale – Linda Marsh reported that 17 sales have been signed up so far, a record for this early. Deadline to register a sale is next Wednesday and maps will be available on Thursday.
Upcoming Event: Apple Pie Jamboree – Linda Marsh reported that the new logo has been chosen and the new shirts for this year will be ordered next week. The next APJ meeting is at 6:00 p.m. on June 30 at the Pateros Library.
Upcoming Event: Dragon Boat Races – Joni Parks announced that they have 14 teams lined up so far, up from 11 last year. There will be 4 boats per heat this year.
Guests: Mark Miller of Land Company and the Brewster Baracudas Swim Team introduced Tommy Hannan, a 2000 Olympic gold medalist who will be coaching the swim team this year. They discussed the importance of swimming as a non-impact aerobic exercise and encouraged everyone to help get the word out about the team and to get the kids involved. Kids up to age 19 are allowed on the team. They hold 2 meets per week.
Miscellaneous: Judy Asmussen announced that Rivers Restaurant now has beer by the bottle and wine by the glass after 11:00 a.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Brenda White reported that over 200 people attended the Mansfield Clinic open house.
Next meeting will be July 15, 2009. Lunch will be available.
