Pateros Chamber of Commerce Meeting Minutes
March 18, 2009

Meeting held at Pateros City Hall, and called to order by Chamber President, Jennifer Stennes.

Pateros Super Stop provided lunch for an $8 donation.

Motion made by Rebecca Meadows to approve minutes of last meeting as presented. Seconded by Brent Sillito. Motion passed.

Motion made by Mary Pearson to approve Treasurer’s Report as presented. Seconded by Rebecca Meadows. Motion passed.

Mayor’s Briefing Report – Mayor Gail Howe reported on recent City business.

School Briefing Report – Lois Davies thanked the voters for passing the Health & Safety Bond by 66.5%. There will be a concert in Okanogan on March 36th at 6:00 p.m. Admission is $2.00. March 20th is Parents Evening. Spring Break is March 30th – April 3rd.

Guest Speaker: Julie Porter of the Hydro Races updated us on details of the event, which will be held on August 29th and 30th. Advertising has started and vendors are lined up. This year, the Grand Prix boats will be here. Julie reports that everything is on track. Sponsors and volunteers are always needed.

Guest Speaker: Randy Moore of Lightning Pine RV Park briefly addressed the Chamber today regarding the importance of protecting and improving our fishing and game resources. He presented a list of contact people from WDFW and NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service.

Discussion: Alta Lake State Park – Chamber President Jennifer Stennes read a 03/16/09 letter from Judy Asmussen to our legislators regarding her concerns over the possible closing of Alta Lake State Park and how it would negatively effect our local businesses. Jennifer stated that we need to make a fuss over this and handed out copies of contact information for our Governor, Senator, Representatives and Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. Jennifer Stennes will put together a meeting on March 25th at 6:00 p.m. at the Homestead.

Upcoming Event: Annual Banquet – Chamber Treasurer, Linda Marsh, reported that the Methodist Church has been reserved and Pastor Smith will do the invocation. Chamber President Jennifer Stennes will MC the event. Rebecca Meadows will contact local merchants regarding the food. Ballots will go out in the March utility bills and due back by April 10th. Committee will meet after ballots are in and the winners will be announced at the April General meeting. Clean-up volunteers are needed.

Chamber Newsletter – Chamber Secretary, Mary Pearson, announced that 71 newsletter were sent out, 26 were opened and 4 clicked on links inside the newsletter. There were 8 emails bounced.

Next meeting will be April 15, 2009. Lunch will be available.
