Meeting held at Pateros City Hall, and called to order by President, Judy Asmussen.
Rivers Restaurant at the Pateros Super Stop provided lunch for a $7 donation.
Motion made, seconded and passed to approve minutes of last meeting as presented.
Chamber Treasurer, Joey Bruno, reported a beginning balance of $272.48 and an ending balance of $869.49. This balance reflects $645.00 collected in Chamber Dues for 2008 and re-imbursements for postage. Joey also reports that she has received notice that the Chamber’s request for TAB monies was accepted. She showed us a copy of the “Event or On-Going Activity Advertising Funding Request Form” she submitted on October 22. Chamber Vice-President, Rebecca Meadows, stated that the Chamber received $2620.00 in 2007 and is requesting $5500.00 for 2008. Motion made, seconded and passed to approve Treasurer’s Report.
Guest Speaker --
Mary Gilmore, Community Relations Coordinator for Northwest MedStar, gave a presentation on MedStar’s services, medical personnel, and the benefits of a NW MedStar Membership. MedStar has Critical Air Transport, which utilizes two bases with three helicopters and 2 fixed-wing planes. They transport approximately 3200 patients a year and their flight crews include pilots, certified flight nurses and respiratory therapists. The Membership Program covers high out-of-pocket air transport costs not covered by health insurance. Membership is $59.00 per year for an entire family or $150.00 for three years.
Mayor’s Briefing Report –
Mayor Howe was not present today. Linda Marsh said there was not much to report since there has been no Counsel meeting since the October Chamber meeting. The City is working on the budget for next year. The Police Advisory Committee should be have its first meeting by the first week of December.
School Briefing Report --
No one from the school was present.
Upcoming Event: Christmas at the Confluence –
Chamber Vice-President, Rebecca Meadows reported that a committee meeting was held yesterday and everyone was assigned duties for the event. The event is scheduled for December 2nd through 31st, with the Town Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa Claus visit on December 19th beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Christmas Coloring contest will be held again this year, along with the Residential and Merchant Lighting contests. The Chamber is sponsoring the Coloring and Merchant Lighting contests and Pateros Super Stop/Rivers Restaurant is sponsoring the Residential Lighting contest. Judging of all contests will be done on December 18. For the park event, Joey Bruno and Linda Marsh will be preparing chili, Toni Roberson will prepare hot chocolate, and Lake Pateros Rentals will provide the tractor and hay for the hayrides. Festivities will begin at 5:45 p.m. with food and music, and announcement of contest winners. The live Nativity begins at 6:00 p.m. and Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive by fire truck at 6:30 for the lighting of the community tree. There will be donation boxes set up at City Hall and in the park, and a Food Bank donation box will also be available in the park. The Library is planning to have a venue of fireside poetry or Christmas story reading. Rebecca Meadows stated that there would be a meeting immediately following today’s General meeting to vote on the budget for this event.
Miscellaneous --
President Judy Asmussen presented a letter she received from the Douglas County PUD, which was in reply to her letter of October 18 regarding the Land Use Policy on the Wells Reservoir. It states that the written comment period has been extended to 5:00 p.m. on November 30, 2007 due to the amount of “public input”.
Tracy Miller of Lighting Hawk Orchard, announced that the Pateros PTO will hold the 1st Annual Pie Sale at least through the Thanksgiving holiday. The PTO hopes to sell 100 pies. These 9-inch pies will be 3-apple combination with homemade crusts, and are priced at $10.00 each. Tracy stated that people can order the pies through Sweet River Bakery and the 8th graders will also be selling them.
Brenda White of Okanogan Douglas Hospital announced Relay for Life will hold a pie sale fund raiser on Tuesday, November 20 in the hospital lobby from 9 a.m. until noon. Proceeds will go to cancer research.
President Judy Asmussen reminded all that there will be no December meeting due to the holidays.
Next meeting will be January 16, 2008.
