Pateros Chamber of Commerce Meeting Minutes
September 16, 2009

Board Attending: Jennifer Stennes, Rebecca Meadows, Linda Marsh


1.) Coleen Couch motioned to approve August Minutes; Linda Marsh, seconded. Unanimous yea vote.

2.) Al Hymer motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report; Coleen Couch, seconded. Unanimous yea vote for $2,028.00 in the treasury.

3.) Linda Marsh gave an update on the museum committee meeting. The group toured the fire hall; talked about renovations; discussed an “old Pateros” in miniature; city will be applying for an energy efficient grant; will enhance walking tour of mall; will also be the Visitor’s Information Center; eventually a gift shop to supplement costs.

4.) Laura Christian gave an update on school happenings. Lighting project completed; received an energy incentive check from the Okanogan PUD; working on a grant to beef up the HVAC system; volleyball and football continuing; 2 school board meetings in a month instead of one: the 2nd Monday of each month at 6 p.m. will be a work session; the 4th Monday of each month at 6 p.m. will be the regular board meeting.

5.) Les Bowen, editor of the Chelan Mirror introduced Candice Reed as the new news reporter for the Quad City Herald and Chelan Mirror.

6.) Agreed to change the November meeting to Tuesday, November 14th.

7.) Brenda White gave an update on the “Health Fair 2009.” Held on Saturday September 26th at the Brewster School: Lion’s Club Sight Van will be available; Free Health Screenings; Food; Giveaways; Prizes; and Clowns.

8.) Al Hymer led a discussion on the lack of events in Pateros. Ideas were visited: grape crushing/wine festival, Bike Races, Ives Landing Day, 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Carolyn Byrd offered to work with the Brewster and Bridgeport Chambers for a Triathlon; Coleen Couch offered to talk to the Brewster Chamber but had concerns about the potential of legalities; Al Hymer motioned and Jen Stennes, seconded: Byrd to begin the process. Unanimous yea vote. Discussion continued about the lack of volunteers: lots of ideas, but no one to carry the event thru to conclusion.

9) The next Pateros Chamber Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at noon at city hall.
